The snow is melting and the spring sports season is rapidly approaching. Spring sports will begin on the following dates:
High school - pitchers and catchers: Monday, March 21 - team times TBA
High school - all spring sports: Monday, March 28 - team times TBA
Middle school - all spring sports: Monday, April 4 - team times TBA
The Monmouth Academy and Monmouth Middle School Winter Sports Nights will be held by program for students in grades 6-12 on the following dates/times:
Girls Basketball - Tuesday, March 15 - 5:30 p.m. at Monmouth Fish and Game
Boys Basketball - Thursday, March 17 - 6:30 at the M.A. Gym
Cheerleading - Tuesday, March 22 - 6 p.m. at the M.A. Cafeteria
Wrestling - TBA
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, March 1, 6:30 p.m., for people interested in discussing the possibility of offering hockey to Monmouth Academy students. This meeting will be held at the MA Library.
The Monmouth Academy X/C team comprised Juniors, Matt Bryant and Brian Nugent, and Freshman Dylan Thombs recently finished 10th in the Maine Class C State X/C Ski Championships. Dylan finished 19th overall with a time of 18:36 followed by Matt (22:02) and Brian (35:45). Congratulations on a great season!
Congratulations to Joe Manduca for his recent success at the Maine Class A State Swimming Championships held at Bowdoin College. Joe placed 16th in the 500 Meter Freestyle in the consolation finals. A special thanks to Coach Jon Millett of Cony High School for serving as Joe’s coach.
The MA boys ended their season today in a quarter-final loss vs. Old Orchard Beach (62-42). Mustangs finish a great season at 12-7 overall and advanced to the Class C Quarter-finals for the first time since 1977. Congratulations on a fantastic season!
The Monmouth Academy X/C Ski team, comprised of Matt Bryant, Brian Nugent, and Dylan Thombs have enjoyed a season of great improvement and success. The team will wrap up its season this Tuesday, 2/22 (at 3 p.m.), and Thursday 2/24 (at 9 a.m.) at the Rangeley Trails Center to compete in the Class C State Championship.
Congratulations to the MA Cheerleaders who finished 4th at the State Class C Cheering Championships. Monmouth finished with its highest point total of the year and once again finished first out of the Western Maine teams. In front of a packed Bangor Auditorium, the team performed its routine to a new level! Congrats on a memorable season!
