January 17 – Community Safety Forum

Just a quick reminder that the Monmouth Community Safety Forum is tonight (January 17) at 6:00 p.m. in the Monmouth Academy gymnasium.

In light of the recent school tragedy in Connecticut, RSU 2 and local law enforcement officials will co-present measures taken to ensure the safety of our children and staff. Local police chiefs will discuss their protocols and Superintendent Hammonds will explain details of the RSU crisis response plan. Opportunities to ask questions will be made available. Together, we will insure the safety of our learning communities.

January 16 – No Afternoon PK

No afternoon PK today due to weather. We will transport the morning PK students home at the regular time. Debbie will drive the bus and Chris will be on the bus to oversee the children.

Possible Flu Clinic

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Due to the widespread influenza epidemic currently being observed in the nation, we in Monmouth are considering holding another flu clinic. We have had a few parents inquiring if there would be another school based clinic, so I have contacted Maine General Prevention center. They still have vaccine and stated they are willing and could put a clinic together fairly quickly.

Therefore this notice is to inquire as to how many parents who have children that have not previously received the flu vaccine would be interested in getting one for their child at this time. If you are interested, please send this form back in with your name and the name of your child/ren needing the flu shot, or call me at the number below ASAP, so we can put this plan into motion. Depending on response, there will be a permission form posted on the website or you can call the school to have one sent home. If there is not enough response we will not be holding a clinic, and will notify you.

Contrary to news reports there is still plenty of vaccine available. Contact your PCP or local pharmacies to get a flu shot.
